welcome to CNC Source

www.cncsource.co.uk is the place to buy any CNC system for your manufacturing business.

The CNC – or computer numerical control – technology has transformed industry, making it possible for several stages of a traditional manufacturing process to be carried out at once.

CNC machines achieve precise results that simply wouldn’t be possible using manually operated machines and work at a much faster speed, with the resulting benefits of increased productivity and profits.

CNC machining uses computer software to design the part and then programme the actions of the tool to recreate it, doing away with the need for a paper drawing of the finished product.

Often a number of machines can be combined to form a system or ‘cell’ that will perform several different operations as it progressively machines the part.

Tools that use CNC technology include drills, surface grinders and water jet cutters, among others:

• CNC routers bring together the advantages of a high speed cutting tool and precise, computer controlled movements

• The simpler machines used in CNC milling are usually used in tool room work and for the production of small parts

• CNC lathes are known for their versatility, with a choice of horizontal or vertical design and with a wide range of functions and accessories

CNC machining is extremely affordable and could transform your business. So if you want to make the switch from manual to CNC, visit www.cncsource.co.uk.

CNC Machines

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) refers to the automation of machine tools that are operated by abstractly programmed commands encoded on a storage medium, as opposed to manually controlled via hand wheels or even levers, or mechanically automated via cams alone.

The first CNC machines were built in the 1940s and 50s, based on existing tools that were modified with motors that moved the controls to follow points fed into the system on paper tape. These early inventions were rapidly augmented with digital computers, creating the modern computer numerical controlled CNC machinery that has since revolutionized the design process.

The introduction of lower-cost CNC machines has radically changed the manufacturing industry. Now, it is as easy to cut curves as it is straight lines, complex 3-D structures are relatively easy to produce, and the processes that were once required for humans to go through have been dramatically reduced.

With the increased automation of manufacturing processes through CNC machining, considerable improvements in the consistency and quality have been achieved with no extra strain been put on the operator. CNC automation has reduced the frequency of errors and provided CNC operators with extra time to perform additional tasks. CNC also allows for more flexibility in the way parts are held in the manufacturing process and the time which is required to change the machine to produce different components.

In modern CNC systems, end-to-end component design is highly automated using CAD/CAM programs. Since any particular component might require the use of a number of different tools at one time; drills, saws, lathes etc, modern machines are now able to combine multiple tools into a single cell.
